Have you ever wondered what to do on a long weekend? Over the Grand Final long weekend we hired a caravan from Utow Caravan Hire in Somerville and travelled into western Victoria to see the Silo Art.
We hired the Avan Charlotte PT6, which had enough room for the family (2 adults and 2 children). The crew at Utow Caravan Hire was great and easy to deal with and made sure we had everything needed. The caravan comes with everything, all the pots, pans, plates, cups etc. You don’t need to add a thing. And it was light, so the 70 series didn’t even feel it!!!
We set off Friday morning at 8am and missed all the Grand Final Day Parade traffic.
The route all up is about 1200 kms, so easy to cover in three days.
Day 1 – Mornington Peninsula to Rupanyup Silo, Sheep Hills Silo, Brim Silo, Rosebery Silo, then stopped at Hopetoun and stayed at the Hopetoun Caravan Park (run by the Yarriambiack Shire Council). Cost was $25 for the night for a powered site, and the amenities are clean. The park is a 1 minute walk from Lake Lascelles.
Day 2 – Hopetoun, Lascelles Silo, Patchewollock Silo to Echuca / Moama. Stayed at the Merool Holiday Park, it was fairly busy being school holidays and a long weekend. Kids loved this park as it had so many activities for them. Cost was $55 per night for a powered site.
Day 3 – Echuca / Moama to Rochester Silo, then back to the Mornington Peninsula.
The art work is well worth the trip.
